About Me

The Living Room gallery was established in 2010 by Anthea Martin. Three exhibitions have taken place since then. The concept behind it was to open up a space in her home to show art and craft.

The opening exhibition was in July 2010 with craft items from Rorke’s Drift plus paintings by Jannie van Heerden.  The second exhibition titled The Elements, was held in December 2010 with invited KwaZulu-Natal artists, Cheryl Penn, Marianne Meijer, Ann-Marie Nason, Jane Bedford, Lindelani Ngwenya, Mxolise Sithole, Cally Lotz, Adrienne D’Aeth, Bheki Khambule, Victor Shange, Clive Sithole and Sfiso KaMkame.

Crazy for Christmas was the third exhibition that took place in the Living Room space and featured watercolour paintings and collages by Anthea Martin, craft items from Rorke's Drift in November 2011.

Too often people are intimidated by stark white gallery space and find it
difficult to relate to art.  In this more intimate space, buyers can see how the
art and craft pieces would fit into a home environment.

The Living Room gallery hopes to allow for conversation, networking and ideas to flow while visiting the exhibition and for such future collaborations to take place.
